Friendly Affair

IF YOU AIN’T heard by now, there’s a new king in the LA beatscene, Friends Of Friends Music taking over the throne by offering everything from the melodic downtempo introspection of Shlohmo to the heavy future bass clubbiness of Salva, with a few 8-bit chips sprinkled in between.

And if you don’t believe jazner, or think he might be biased cuz he’s interning at the label, just hop over to Resident Advisor, where FoF Music was just named Label of the Month for August.

Pop Massacre 2 is the freshly minted compilation dropped by Lazy Brow and the FoF family that features electro-terpretations to classic pop jamz from the likes of The Beatles, Sisqo, Ginuwine and plenty more.  Original cover done up by the homegurl Angie, sick job!

No doubt Salva’s take on Pharrell and Snoop Dogg “That Girl” steals the show, infusing juke blips, wonky synths, and thunderous bass hot enough to knock the blunt out Snoop’s paw.

Other highlights include Devonwho’s remix of Nappy Roots “AwNaw”, Mexican With Guns’ spooky “Thong Song”, and Shlohmo’s Waka Flocka Flame “Hard In Da Paint” cut.

Download Pop Massacre 2 for free below, and stay tuned for Shlohmo’s full-length Bad Vibes to drop August 9th, as well as an upcoming Frite Nite compilation feature Sepalcure and more in the Fall along with a new Salva EP.  We’re buildin…
