I Will

NOW THAT THE hollidaze are through, it’s time to get back to biz over here at jazner.

Today brings us a smooth, dark, and melancholy EP from Toronto’s Kevin McPhee, Blue Organ, off Hype_Ltd, sublabel of the super bubblin Hypercolour imprint.

“I Will” starts off veiled and viscous, the beat like a lugubrious trudge through forest thickets with a fleeting light of alternating male and female vocals piercing past the foliage and pulling you through the tough slog.

Your Side

“Your Side” shows some grit while keeping things mellow, the juxtaposition of a ratcheting hi-hat with ethereal synth swooshes and ambient vocals creating a ghostly, chilled-out introspective vibe with some head bobbing sprinkled on top.

“Blue Organ” plays with the emotions, stringing you along for a prolonged drop that may be too slow for dance-floors but is perfect for some home cookin.

Looking forward to what Hypercolour and Hype Ltd. bring in 2012. Til then, stayed locked in!

CAN’T GET ENOUGH of this tune, Cassius’ “The Sound Of Violence (Franco Cinelli Remix)” taking over the stereo like it ain’t nothing.

After hearing the track on Visionquest’s Fabric 61 mix, it became a must have perfect party banger for the upcoming New Year’s Eve festivities looming around the corner.

Churning house rhythm, piercingly smooth low end thump, and a sultry vocal chorale combine to make an addicting remix that’ll ring in 2012 right.

Peep the video below for more on Visionquest Fabric 61.

Joy Orbison x The Trilogy Tapes x Hinge Finger Mix

SOME OF THAT new new from one of the more secretive producers out there, Joy Orbison dropping minimal details of a fresh label in the works in partnership with Will Bankhead of The Trilogy Tapes, Hinge Finger, introduced by a wicked, gritty house mix you can stream or download above.

The man that’s brought us such classics as “Hyph Mngo“, “So Derobe“, and who may or may not be the brains behind the infamous “Sicko Cell“, pumps this new mix packed with a syrupy chopped n’ screwed Fugees sample (17′ 25” mark) and gangly garage beats that’ll keep you eagerly awaiting for the first release to drop. Enjoy!

Liquorice

PUMPERNICKLE HAS NEVER been sexier.

It seems like everywhere you turn on the interwebz, the beautiful and classically trained Azealia Banks has set up shop and taken over.

With a Pitchfork Rising feature, the cover spot on the latest issue of Self-Titled, major love from Mary Anne Hobbs, and beats from some of the hottest producers in the game, Banks is building big things and ready to take over the throne (sorry Jay & Kanye).

The latest track is “Liquorice”, which you can stream above, download, or peep the lyrics here.

Lone provides the beat, his track “Pineapple Crush” raining crystalline house vibes with retro synth and diamond sharpness.

No doubt Banks’ got flow, flaunting her wit effortlessly and spitting lyrical bars that will leave yr head spinning.

Play this one over and over.  Enjoy!

Agree To Disagree

Sunburst

CAN’T GET ENOUGH of these two jams.

Like a virus, Hackman has hacked into the stereo, overrunning the system and taking no mercy with his “Agree To Disagree” b/w “Sunburst” 12″ on PTN Recordings.

An ominous brightness, with shades of glassy and tropical vibes juxtapose with lite UK Funky and house flavors on “Agree To Disagree”, a track that’ll get played again again & again. The vocals take it to the next level, wrenching affection from deep within and splaying it out for all the world to revel in.

“Sunburst” follows suit, island tones stringing you along and drenching bodies with warm splashes of rhythms and tones that make it feel like there’s sand beneath those dancing feet, waves crashing in the foreground, coconut water replenishing all those electrolytes lost in beads of sweat.

Get irie with these Hackman tunes and stay posted for more to come in 2012..

STILL REELING FROM the birthday celebration, jazner is back at work bringing you a new video from the always stellar and ever growing Eglo Records crew.

“Never Thought You Would Go” is the premiere cut from Irish beat maker Krystal Klear with vocals provided by Washington D.C.’s Olivier Day Soul. Video directed by Crack Stevens.

Eglo’s never been one to shy away from soulful R&B soundscapes, but “Never Thought You Would Go” may be their deepest dip into the velvety smooth cauldron of electromance, with confusion, heartbreak, and the lament of a love lost pining throughout the track.

Perfect for a chilly winter’s night, “Never Thought You Would Go” sees a vinyl release December 19th, with the digital available down the road in January 2012.
